AquaGym Swim Club Coaching Team


Dave Prattley is AquaGym Swim Club's Head Coach and takes the Warriors, Titans and both Gladiator squads.  He has full responsibility for delivering the club's coaching program.

Dave’s  philosophy is to be the ‘best we can be’ though creating winning partnerships between the coach and swimmers, supported by a strong successful team culture.  Dave has been coaching at AquaGym since 2012, and has consistently trained his swimmers to produce exceptional results at national and regional level. Dave is a passionate coach who advocates for swimmers and coaches to work in partnership to achieve their individual goals. The AquaGym swimmer works out in an environment with high coach expectations - competitive racing becomes the fun part for a well-prepared swimmer.  Dave’s ultimate goal is for more of his AquaGym swimmers to compete at the highest international level.


Dave’s achievements over the last 13 years include coaching swimmers to NZ Open Medals, Age Group Long Course and Short Course medals, NZ Short Course Open records, Division 2 meet medals, as well as coaching Swimming NZ’s Age Group Camps in 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014. Dave is currently the administrator and a key coach of the Canterbury Development Squads. In 2014 Dave was appointed to the board of the NZ Swimming Coaches and Teachers. Dave has trained the NZ Tri Series team in 2010 and was Swimming NZ Youth Camp Coach in 2011. He has had athletes selected to Swimming NZ Youth & Age Group Camps since 2010 through to 2018, and has had swimmers participate in   Swimming NZ’s Wellington High Performance Program and the 2013 World Championships, 2014 Junior Panpacs and 2015 Australian State Champs. He was also selected to attend the 2013 World Championships as one of the Aquablack Team coaches but had to decline this appointment. Prior to joining Aquagym in 2012, Dave was the CEO of Southland Swimming and the Head coach of Hokanui Swimming Club.

Felicity Lowen has recently commenced work with Aquagym Swim Club as the new Slayers coach. Felicity has been a competitive swimmer for the past 9 years up to the highest National and Regional Level.

Felicity has recently retired from competitive swimming and next year will commence her study towards becoming a midwife.

As the Junior coach she will be working with the Slayers squad to deliver a quality programme which teaches the theory behind the technique and skills and develop the athletes as confident and competent swimmers and competitors.
